Outstanding Meet for Bruneau at Vancouver-Fraser Valley Divisional Championships

July 4, 2024

It was a weekend of outstanding swimming for Delta Sungod swimmers this past weekend.  The twelve qualified swimmers at this year’s Vancouver/Fraser Valley Divisional Championships did a great job of stepping up, and stepping out of their comfort zones to get things done.  Leading the way this weekend was Mia Bruneau (12) who had a stellar meet with three new BC Provincial championship qualifying times, and a whole slew of gold medals.

As a whole the Delta Sungod swimmers did a great job of representing their club at the three day meet in Chilliwack, BC.  The Vancouver/Fraser Valley Divisional Championships is a great setup meet for younger and newer athletes to dip their toes into championships swimming.

Congratulations to all the swimmers who achieved new personal bests.  Swimmers who were

For many of the athletes attending this meet was a great opportunity to go after a few more provincial qualifying events for the July championships.  Swimmers had the opportunity to race their secondary events, or events that they had not quite qualified in yet.   New BC Provincial Championship times were achieved by Mia Bruneau (12) in the 200 free, 100 breast, and 200 breast.  Grace Bruneau (14) in the 50 backstroke and 1500 freestyle, Madelyn Paredes Troughton (14) in the 400 IM, Gurshaan Sangha (15) in the 100 breast and Emma Zhang (12) in the 100 back, 200 fly, and the 50 breaststroke.

Club records were broken by Emma Zhang in the girls 11-12 200 fly Short Course, and Grace Bruneau in the 13-14 Girls 1500 freestyle Short Course.

The many swimmers in the club the months of July and August are a time to relax and reflect on swimming.  For those swimmers who are attending championship meets (BC Provincials, Canadian Summer Championsips, BC Summer Games, Far Westerns), it is another chance at some hardware, a new club record, a personal best of the achievement of a personal goal that was set sometime in their swimming careers.

We wish athletes training through July the best of luck on their meets.
