Delta Sungod Swim Club Break Top 15 at BC Provincial Champs

July 19, 2024

It was a great weekend of racing for the Delta Sungod Swim Club at this year’s BC Summer Provincial Championships.   The club brought 8 swimmers to Kamloops in this 4 day long course swim meet.  The meet played host to 500 of the fastest swimmers in British Columbia.

In order to attend swimmers had to meet some pretty tough qualifying times, and once there brave some pretty tough conditions.  The team, consisting of Coach Cliff, Grace Bruneau (14), Mia Bruneau (12), Chloe Meredith Jensen (18), Madelyn Paredes Troughton (14), Gurshaan Sangha (15), Rebecca Soroke (15), Max Zha (17), and Emma Zhang (12), completed the weekend with a 12th place finish.  This is one of Delta’s best finishes in 10 years!

Congratulations to new club record breaker, Madelyn Paredes Troughton who set a new club record in the Girls 13-14 Long Course 100m Breaststroke.

Top 8 finishers this weekend were:
Grace Bruneau silver 200 fly, 6th 1500 free, 7th 100 fly/400 IM/200 IM
Mia Bruneau 6th 200 breaststroke
Chloe Meredith Jensen 6th 200 IM
Madelyn Paredes Troughton bronze 100 breast, 4th 50 breast, 8th 100 fly/200 breast

This coming weekend is the BC Summer Games in Maple Ridge.  Best of luck to Emma Zhang who will be representing Zone 5.

The club has one more competition in Surrey on July 27th weekend, and then will be taking a well-deserved month off.  Our programs start back up again on the week of September 16th.  We will be hosting assessments for new families on Tuesday, September 9th and Thursday, September 11 from 6:00-7:00pm.  Email headcoach@teamsungod.ca for more details.
